    Dario Franchitti to Drive Camaro Z/28 Indy 500 Pace Car   NEW YORK (Wednesday, March 26, 2014) — Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti will drive a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 to pace the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 25. It’s the eighth time a Camaro has been the pace car, starting in 1967 – and the 25th time a Chevrolet has paced the race.   Franchitti won the Indy 500 in 2007, 2010 and 2012, and he is only the third driver ever to win at least three consecutive IndyCar titles – among four championships overall.     Badass 2014 Chevy Reaper Unveiled

      Badass Chevy Reaper Arriving at Westgate Chevrolet..... A serious name with the firepower to back it up. If you wanted a badass, full-size truck with plenty of go and character, with 550-hp Slayer, this machine is ready to take on anything. Based on Chevy's fresh 2014 Silverado, the Reaper offers up an EcoTec V8 in either 5.3- or 6.2-liter sizing, both breathing through Corsa exhaust systems and tuned with custom software by Lingenfelter. The big news here is an optional 1900cc Magnuson blower—hitched to the 5.3-liter model, output sits at a stout 475 hp. The 6.2-liter? Try 550 hp.   While not an official Chevrolet product, it could be close enough to make consumers consider it in the sense that, it has been developed by Lingenfelter Performance, a tuning company known for its GM upgrades, and Southern Comfort Automotive that sells specialty vehicles, are now available at Westgate Chevrolet. The Reaper's suspension comes courtesy of Fox Racing, which has added a 3-inch lift and special-tuned shocks. With remote reservoirs, this setup allots the Reaper 9.2 inches of travel up front and 11.2 inches out back—an increase of over 25 percent from stock.     2015 Corvette Stingray to Offer Eight-Speed Automatic Paddle-shift gearbox rivals dual-clutch performance, enhances efficiency DETROIT – An eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission will be offered in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for 2015, enhancing the performance and efficiency of the 2014 North American Car of the Year. Designed and built by GM, the new transmission delivers world-class shift times that rival the best dual-clutch designs. The all-new, GM-designed 8L90 eight-speed is expected to contribute up to 5-percent greater efficiency, when compared to the previous six-speed automatic. EPA fuel economy test results are pending and will be announced later. It also makes the Corvette Stingray one of the few sports cars to offer the choice of a conventional manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic. "Corvette Stingray's new eight-speed automatic delivers the comfort and drivability of a true automatic transmission, as well as lightning-fast shifts and the manual control that enhance the performance-driving experience," said Bill Goodrich, assistant chief engineer for eight-speed automatic transmissions. "It was designed to enhance the Stingray's driving experience, with performance on par with dual-clutch designs, but without sacrificing refinement."     Double Win for 2014 Chevy Silverado & Corvette Stingray

    Chevrolet Silverado & Corvette Stingray Win Truck and Car of the Year   Chevrolet Silverado wins North American Truck of the Year while Corvette Stingray brings home car of the year in the first double win for Chevrolet. The 2014 Chevy Silverado beat out the Acura MDZ and Jeep Cherokee. General Motors recently swept the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards in Detroit, Michigan with their Corvette Stingray and Chevrolet Silverado, taking top honors for the 2014 year. The double-win for GM was the first time a company has produced the winning vehicles for both categories. The win in the truck/utility category this year won General Motors their fourth award for one of their trucks. It was the second time the Chevy Silverado won the award, which also claimed the victory in 2007. The Silverado 1500 HD, worth around $50,000, won the competition with 219 points; it was followed by the Jeep Cherokee who had 174 points, and the Acura MDX (97 points). The system for choosing a winner is based on factors such as innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, and value of the vehicle.
